10 Years Rollin' - STRIKE OUT BREAST CANCER. Hosted by Orlando Sports Foundation benefiting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Presented by: @JA Edwards of America (Your Roofing Specialist) - August 26th at Boardwalk Bowl. The Orlando Sports Foundation (OSF) is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research. The OSF holds several events throughout the year, including the AutoNation Cure Bowl which is an NCAA college football bowl game played each December at Camping World Stadium. In the fall of 2007, a group of business leaders and philanthropists wanted to bring a new college bowl game to Orlando and make it different by tying it directly to a charitable cause.Among those initial supporters were the founding Board of Director members and Advisory Board members : Dave Almstead, Megan Dowdy, Alan Fidelo, Mike Foristall, Alan Gooch, Joe Hornstein, Jeff Lagos, George Lamelza, Joe Mckinney, Mack Mclaughlin, Alan Morrison, and Scott Rose.As this idea was forming, Laura Goldstein — a strong, early advocate of the game — was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer. This unfortunate event inspired the initial Board of Directors to choose breast cancer research toward finding a cure as its charitable funding focus.Board members knew that each college bowl game donates to a charity. However, most fans are unaware of which charitable causes are being supported. To separate this bowl from the rest, they wanted to give the public the chance to support the game as well as a significant cause. To do this it was decided the cause would be permanently incorporated into the game title. As a result, the Cure Bowl was born.Unfortunately, Laura Goldstein will not be able to experience the bowl game that she helped inspire. She lost her long and hard fought battle with breast cancer on April 20, 2011. Another devastating loss hit close to home when on March 24, 2015, OSF Board CFO Sandi Breitenstein passed away from stage IV liver cancer. Laura, Sandi and others who will lose their battle against cancer today, tomorrow, and the days to come continue to motivate OSF to make the AutoNation Cure Bowl presented by Florida Hospital a success.

Orlando invites residents and travelers alike to experience life in thrilling and unexpected ways. From the theatrically manicured hospitality side of town to the organically crafted local arts and entertainment scene. Central Florida is a creative city alive with a seemingly endless array of interesting people to know and exciting places to explore.
Practically everyone knows that Central Florida is home to the world's greatest theme parks. This comes with billions of dollars in infrastructure that set the stage for travelers to experience Central Florida. As many beaming-with-pride native Floridians will do, I tend to reserve my consumption of theme park awesomeness to seasonally inspired events such as: Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights or Epcot’s International Festival of the Arts - a celebration of food, art and entertainment.
I get to spend a joyfully increasing amount of my time on the organic side of the city, embedded in the locally-energized arts and cultural scene. As part of my career/passion (as Chief Excitement Officer at Anything is Posh Able) I build art events, fashion shows and organize fundraising events to support arts and cultural organizations in Central Florida. So, I can forget that not everyone is aware of the budding counter culture of creativity that is: Orlando. If you are new to Orlando or a long-time resident who is looking to connect with your artful side, here are some people, places and things that I believe make Orlando an imaginatively artful place to experience life.
Snap Orlando! is boldly increasing the visibility and appreciation of the photographic medium as a significant cultural art form in the City Beautiful. Founder Patrick Kahn has been described as a cultural risk-taker fostering an emerging awareness of Orlando as Culture. Patrick is a favorite friend who serves as part of my company's Advisory Panel.
Downtown Orlando Arts District - Nestled in the City of Orlando, the Downtown Arts District is a hip, active, and vibrant artistic community offering something for everyone. Whether it’s museums in the morning, painting by day, or movies and martinis at midnight, the Arts District’s friendly and energetic vibe is up early and stays out late.
United Arts of Central Florida - Now in their 28th year of service to our community, United Arts has invested more than $141 million in local arts and culture organizations and education. They believe that art, music, science, dance, history and theater matter… for our children, for our economy and for our community!
The Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs Office works with its Advisory Council to recommend how Orange County’s funds should be invested to elevate the status of arts and culture in Central Florida. Find more information on the Advisory Council page. Led by Orange County's “Chief Arts Instigator” Terry Olson since the creation of the Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs in 2001.
Culture Builds Florida The Florida Division of Cultural Affairs is Florida's state arts agency. They believe arts and culture support jobs, tourism and education while contributing to a vibrant and creative Florida.

For anyone who has ever been behind an open microphone, on a stage, all eyes on you - you know "that feeling". I liken it to the feeling of being strapped in on a fast roller coaster, when it’s too late to back out. You think: I might die. I probably won’t. But I could throw up. I call it roller coaster scary and I love that feeling! If you have a bucket list, consider adding one of these exciting "out of your comfort zone" experiences. Or if roller coaster scary isn’t your thing, take a seat in the audience, it's a blast to see creativity in process. Here are some great opportunities to hear and be heard in Orlando.
Diverse Word is a night of the authentic spoken word poetry, comedy, singing, rap, and random surprises! Hosted by Shawn Welcome on the patio at Dandelion CommuniTEA (618 Thornton Ave. Orlando) every Tuesday night at 7:30 (10 years strong). At the last event I attended, Shawn said the most amazing thing, “…what if you woke up each day only with what you were grateful for the night before.”
Improvisational comedy/theatre is completely unscripted, spontaneously co-created by the actors on the stage. In Orlando you can take a class or see a show at SAK Comedy Lab. IMPROV classes are designed to get you out of your comfort zone and to connect you with interesting people in a fun and supportive environment. I have taken improv acting classes at SAK University for four years, it’s been transformative for my communication skills, confidence level and my overall attitude towards life. It’s taken me so far out of my comfort zone, I forget where I left it. It can be terrifying to step on stage and have no idea what will be coming out of your mouth. But the safety is that there are no wrong answers in IMPROV, you make it up as you go. And that it’s a team sport, just you and the other performers in a mind-mind of spontaneity. If you say it’s raining peanut butter, your co-creator won’t think twice they’ll just grab the jelly. How often in life do you walk into a room with absolute confidence that anything you say or do is accepted and supported? No worries if you’re not ready to get that real with it, you can check out a show at SAK Comedy Lab.
